Illini Solar Car at the Chicago Auto Show
Illini Solar Car is a student team at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. We design, build, test, and race solar electric vehicles.
The car we have with us is Calypso, our third and newest solar car. Calypso drove over 1,500 miles last summer in the 2024 American Solar Challenge and we hope to race Calypso again this summer in the 2025 Formula Sun Grand Prix. We are currently raising money to be able to cover fees to attend this race!
We are so grateful to everyone that donated to sign Calypso during the Chicago Auto Show! If you have any questions about donating or sponsoring our team, please send us an email at hello@illinisolarcar.com.
We are excited to share our team with the public! A huge thanks to everyone that interviewed us and showcased our car.
