Our Team

Illini Solar Car is a student team at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. We design, build, test, and race solar electric vehicles.

Our Car

The car we have with us today is Calypso, our third and newest solar car. Calypso drove over 1,500 miles last summer in the 2024 American Solar Challenge and we hope to race Calypso again this summer in the 2025 Formula Sun Grand Prix. We are currently raising money to be able to cover fees to attend this race!

Sign the Solar Car - Chicago Auto Show Exclusive Fundraiser

We are currently running a limited fundraiser during the Chicago Auto Show! If you can't stop by our booth to visit us in-person and sign the solar car, please write a note on PayPal that says this and we will write your name and send you a picture of it! All signatures will be placed on the Display Shell of our third-generation solar-electric vehicle, Calypso. This shell will be used during test driving, outreach events, and more!
